Nasca

Just 440 km southwards from Lima and on a 600 m high dessert plateau exists the 35.000 habitant-counting city Nasca. The climate of this area is all year round arid and enjoyable warm. Except of a small museum the city doesn`t has to offer any sights. Nevertheless many tourists flock daily to the town to visit the place for what Nasca is worldwide known: the mysterious Nasca Lines.

Quite close to Nasca is located the highest sand dune of America with an altitude of over 100 m. Here you can find some miles long and 5 to 20 meter deep subterranean water channels as well. The water comes from the Andean mountains and is used for agricultural watering of the cotton plantations.

Furthermore you can visit the Cemetery of Chauchilla which is only 25 km from Nasca away - an archeological site that you shouldn`t miss.
