Backpacker Packages
What is it about?
We're offering cheaper vacations for those among you that have not the necessary budget to enjoy our vacations listed under "Cultural Travel", "Adventure Holidays" etc.
The packages you find here have nothing to do with our "normal" vacations. These are services from providers orientated towards shoestring travellers who look more at the price ticket than anything else.
However, under no circumstances we support exploitation of staff in order to get clients lower prices. The lower prices are accomplished by less services or less expensive services, not on the tariffs of staff. The principle is simple: you pay less, you get less.
If you cannot pay these cheaper backpacker tours, do not use an outfitter at all - do all on your own. Carry your tent, food and cooking equipment for your treks. If you cannot do it on your own and do not have the money to avoid exploiting, save up more before travelling.
YOU:
are patient and can live with some delays and alike obstacles.
you understand "Spanglish" (Peruvian-Spanish-English-mixture) OR are willing to communicate using gestures, hands, feet and/or a pen/pencil. Some tourist services may have a low level of English or even no English at all.
don't mind travelling on public transport.
arrange your own transfers from bus terminals to hotels and vice-versa. Usually between USD 2-5 for a taxi (airport transfers are included).
sleep in a room with a bed and private shower, no luxuries, no nice views out the window, at times maybe no window at all or a small one with patio view. In Peru neighbours may have barking dogs, have birthday parties, loud TV sets, cars and especially taxi drivers use their horn ... often! We recommend ear-plugs for all Peru travel. Hot water and Wi-Fi may have failures.
