MOUNT PUMARINRI

Summit: 5465 meter
Difficulty: Easy (F)
Duration expedition: 1 day from Viconga

Short description:
Pumarinri is not usually climbed from Huaraz but done additionally to the Huayhuash Circuit Trek.
Pumarinri is found between Viconga and Huanacpatay and the attack takes places from the campsite at Lake Viconga. You will start hiking on the trail towards the Huanacpatay Valley at 3 AM until about 1 km from the Cuyoc Pass. From there you turn south towards the glacier and you will reach the summit at approx. 8-9 AM. From the summit you do not return the same way, instead after descending towards the trail you will continue to the next campsite in the Huanacpatay Valley, just under the San Antonio Pass where you will meet up with the donkey drivers, cook and maybe the rest of the group that didn't go to the mountain and hiked with the cook today.

This day (Viconga - summit - Huanacpatay) will take about 10-12 hours, so it is fair to say that this is quite an exhausting day.
